How to Play Scattergories
- Each list uses one letter and the same category sheet. Players write an answer starting with that letter for every category before time runs out — optionally use the scorecard timer for each list.
- Read answers category by category. A valid answer earns a point only if no other player wrote the same word; duplicate answers score zero for everyone who wrote them.
- After each list, add up each player’s points for that list and enter those totals in the matching row.
- The player with the highest total across all lists wins.
Tips & Strategy for playing Scattergories
- Agree up front how strict you are on adjectives, brands, and plural forms so disputes stay short.
- Spelling counts — blurry letters often turn into duplicate answers.
- Use quick votes for borderline answers so the next list can start on time.
- Enable the optional scorecard timer so every list gets the same writing window, or keep a shared sand timer — just stay consistent.
