How to Play Cribbage
- In standard two-player cribbage, each player is dealt 6 cards, discards 2 to the crib, and plays a 4-card hand plus the starter card. The first player to reach 121 points wins immediately.
- For each deal, enter the total points each player earned from pegging, hand scoring, and any crib points for the dealer.
- Use standard cribbage terms when counting: his heels or nibs gives the dealer 2 when the starter is a jack; his nobs is the jack in hand matching the starter suit.
- Stop scoring as soon as a player reaches 121; the game ends instantly and the opponent does not need to finish counting.
Tips & Strategy for playing Cribbage
- Agree before play whether you are using the standard 121-point game or a shorter house target.
- Add crib points only to the dealer for that deal, along with any pegging and hand points they earned.
- When a player reaches 121 during pegging or counting, record the winning score and stop the game there.
