How to Play Hand, Knee & Foot
- Hand, Knee & Foot (also called Triple Play) is usually four players in two partnerships. Use one column per side.
- After each deal, compute each partnership’s net score: add the value of melded cards, canasta bonuses, red threes, and going out, then subtract cards still left in hand, knee, or foot piles.
- Typical Triple Play bonus values include natural 7s (5,000), natural 5s (3,000), wild-card canastas (2,500), other natural canastas (500), mixed canastas (300), and going out (200), although house rules vary. Red threes are often 100 each when laid.
- Typical card values: jokers 50, aces and 2s 20, 8–king 10, 4–7 5. The same values apply whether counting melded cards or subtracting cards left in players’ hand, knee, or foot piles. Unplayed red 3s are often −500; agree on black-3 penalties before you start.
- Each player begins with a hand, knee, and foot pile. After emptying one pile they continue with the next according to the table’s rules, completing the required canastas before going out.
- Play the agreed number of deals (commonly four). The partnership with the higher running total at the end wins.
