How to Play Blokus

  • CheckmarkBlokus is a tile-placement board game: each player fits their colored polyomino pieces onto the board, touching only at corners of their own color.
  • CheckmarkThe game ends when no player can legally place a piece. Score each player’s remaining pieces and bonuses on this sheet.
  • CheckmarkSubtract one point for each unit square left in your unplayed pieces. Enter the square count on the Unplaced squares line.
  • CheckmarkAward +15 if you placed every piece from your tray. If your 1×1 piece was the last piece you played, award +20 total (+15 plus an extra +5).
  • CheckmarkThe player with the highest total score after penalties and bonuses wins.

Tips & Strategy for playing Blokus

  • CheckmarkCount unplayed squares carefully—each small square in a leftover piece counts, not just the number of pieces.
  • CheckmarkCheck the all-pieces and last-piece bonuses before clearing the board so you do not forget end-game points.
  • CheckmarkDuring play, remember your new pieces must touch corner-to-corner with your color only—edges cannot touch your own pieces.

Frequently asked questions about Blokus

How do I enter unplaced squares?

Count every unit square still in your unplayed pieces and enter that number. The scorecard subtracts one point per square automatically.

When do I take the all-pieces bonus?

Select 15 if you placed every piece from your tray onto the board. Select 0 if any piece remains unplayed.

When do I take the last-piece bonus?

Select 5 only if you placed every piece from your tray and your 1×1 piece was the very last piece you played. The last-piece bonus requires the all-pieces bonus.

Who wins Blokus on this scorecard?

The player with the highest total after penalties and bonuses wins. Ties are broken by your table’s house rules.

How does this Blokus scorecard work?

Totals are calculated for you so you can focus on the game.

Can I use ScorecardGO to score Blokus on mobile?

Yes. ScorecardGO is built for phones and tablets: large tap targets, readable tables, and layouts that fit narrow screens. You can score Blokus wherever you're playing, including at a table or outdoors. The same scorecard also works on a desktop if you prefer a larger screen.

Does this Blokus scorecard work offline?

Once this Blokus scorecard page is loaded, you can keep entering scores without an internet connection. Your scores stay in the browser on your device, so a dropped connection does not wipe a local game. If you have shared the scorecard so others can follow along, those live updates need a connection and catch up when you are back online. Bookmark the page if you want to reopen the same sheet later.

Is this Blokus scorecard free?

Yes. ScorecardGO is free to use in the browser with no account required. Open the Blokus scorecard and start tracking points right away. There is no signup wall and no paid plan required to keep score.

Can I share this Blokus scorecard with a QR code?

Yes. Open Share on the scorecard and show the QR code so everyone playing can follow the Blokus score on their own phone. You choose whether guests can enter scores or only watch, and you can change that during the game. People who cannot scan can type the six-character code at scorecardgo.com/join. Sharing is optional; if you never tap Share, the scorecard stays on your device.
