- Bonuses count only on an exact bid. Standard 14s are 10. The black 14 is 20. A pirate taking a mermaid is 20. The Skull King taking a pirate is 30. A mermaid taking the Skull King is 40.
- After the tenth hand, the highest total wins.
Tips & Strategy for playing Skull King
- Leave the bonus blank when you have none. A blank bonus counts as 0.
- With 8 players, read the card count on the row. A zero bid uses that number.
- With 2 players, deal a hand for the ghost, but do not add a column for him. He does not score.
Frequently asked questions about Skull King
How does this Skull King scorecard score a hand?
Enter your bid and the tricks you won. An exact bid of 1 or more scores 20 points per trick. Miss it and you lose 10 points for each trick you are off. A zero bid scores 10 points times the cards dealt on that row when you take no tricks, or loses that many points if you take any. Bonus points are added only when the bid is exact.
Which Skull King bonuses do I enter?
Add the bonuses and type the total. A green, yellow, or purple 14 is 10. The black 14 is 20. A pirate that captures a mermaid is 20. The Skull King capturing a pirate is 30. The Tigress counts as a pirate when she is played as one. A mermaid capturing the Skull King is 40. You keep these points only if the bid was exact.
How many hands are in Skull King?
A basic game is 10 hands. Hand 1 deals 1 card, hand 2 deals 2, and so on through 10. With 8 players the last hands deal 8 cards, because the deck runs out. The row label shows the card count this sheet uses. This is classic Skull King scoring, not Rascal scoring. Kraken, White Whale, and Loot cards are left out.
How does this Skull King scorecard work?
Enter scores in the rows for each hand, hole, or round — the scorecard updates running totals and highlights the leader automatically.
