How to Play Balut
- Play with five dice; roll all dice first, then up to two re-rolls of any dice, for three throws per turn.
- After your throws, score the result in one open line on the sheet. Each of the seven categories has exactly four lines — when all 28 are filled, the dice sheet is complete.
- Fours, Fives, and Sixes: enter only the sum of dice showing that face (scratch with 0 if you must).
- Straights: a small straight 1–5 scores 15; a large straight 2–6 scores 20 (enter 0 if you sacrifice the line).
- Full house: three of one face and a pair of another — score the total pips on all five dice.
- Choice: score the sum of all five dice in any combination.
- Balut: five of a kind scores 20 plus the sum of the dice.
Tips & Strategy for playing Balut
- Plan the endgame — you must fill every line, so sometimes you will scratch a tough category with 0.
- Choice totals toward the +2 incentive start at 100 across its four lines — pace big sums when you can.
- Remember 15 vs 20: small straight is 1–5, large straight is 2–6.
Frequently asked questions about Balut
How do I score a Balut (five of a kind)?
Five matching dice score 20 plus the sum of the dice (25–50). Enter that value in one of the four Balut lines, or 0 if you scratch the line.
Does the grand total include every Milholt incentive point?
This sheet adds the common Milholt sum bonuses (+2 when Fours ≥52, Fives ≥65, Sixes ≥78, or Choice ≥100). Extra table points for straights, full houses, each Balut, and the final score band are not auto-calculated — add those on paper if you use them.
Who wins at Balut?
House rules vary: many play highest dice-sheet total after all 28 lines are filled. If you use the full Milholt points table, compare final adjusted scores instead.
How does this Balut scorecard work?
Enter scores in the rows for each hand, hole, or round — the scorecard updates running totals and highlights the leader automatically. You can add players, rename them, and keep the sheet open for the whole session.
Can I use ScorecardGO to score Balut on mobile?
Yes. ScorecardGO is built for phones and tablets: large tap targets, readable tables, and layouts that fit narrow screens so you can score Balut wherever you're playing.
Does this Balut scorecard work offline?
Yes. Your scorecard works offline when the page is loaded, and changes sync when you are back online so you do not lose progress mid-game.
Is this Balut scorecard free?
