How to Play Skyjo

  • CheckmarkKeep the total value of cards in your 3×4 grid as low as possible; swap high cards for low or negative ones until someone ends the round.
  • CheckmarkOn your turn, draw from the deck or discard pile, then either swap that card into your grid or discard it and flip one of your face-down cards.
  • CheckmarkA round ends when a player reveals all 12 cards; remaining players take one final turn, then everyone tallies their grid.
  • CheckmarkEach player’s round score is the sum of card values still in their grid (−2 to 12). If the player who revealed all of their cards does not have the lowest round score, many editions double that player’s score for the round. Enter the final score after applying this rule if you use it.
  • CheckmarkAdd each round to running totals; when any player reaches 100 or more points the game ends and the lowest cumulative score wins.

Tips & Strategy for playing Skyjo

  • CheckmarkIf you play with the column rule, three matching cards in a vertical column can be removed before scoring — watch for easy clears.
  • CheckmarkOnly end the round when you are confident you have the lowest grid, or your round score may be doubled.
  • CheckmarkThink before discarding — a low card on the pile can help the next player fix their grid.

Frequently asked questions about Skyjo

What do I enter on the Skyjo score sheet each round?

When a round ends, flip any remaining face-down cards. If you’re playing with the column-removal rule, remove any completed vertical columns before totaling the remaining cards, then enter each player’s round total in their cell. Leave later rounds blank until they finish; the sheet adds a new row as you play and keeps a running total. Lowest cumulative score is best.

How do you calculate a Skyjo score?

Add together the values of every card remaining in your grid after any column removals used in your game. Record that total for the round. If your group uses the doubling rule, double the round score of the player who ended the round when applicable before entering it on the scorecard. The sheet does not look at the cards for you — type the finished round total.

How are Skyjo cards worth points?

Most cards are worth their printed value (−2 to 12). Add every card still in a player’s grid for that round (after optional column removals). Negative cards lower the round total, which is why they are useful to keep. Do not count cards you already removed as a completed column.

How do you win Skyjo on this score sheet?

Keep adding round totals until at least one player reaches 100 or more points. Then compare cumulative scores: the lowest total wins. You do not need a fixed number of rounds up front. The scorecard highlights the lowest running total as you go.

How does this Skyjo scorecard work?

Enter scores in the rows for each hand, hole, or round — the scorecard updates running totals and highlights the leader automatically. You can add players, rename them, and keep the sheet open for the whole session. No account is required: open the page and start tracking points. Totals are calculated for you so you can focus on the game.

Can I use ScorecardGO to score Skyjo on mobile?

Yes. ScorecardGO is built for phones and tablets: large tap targets, readable tables, and layouts that fit narrow screens. You can score Skyjo wherever you're playing, including at a table or outdoors. The same scorecard also works on a desktop if you prefer a larger screen.

Does this Skyjo scorecard work offline?

Once this Skyjo scorecard page is loaded, you can keep entering scores without an internet connection. Your scores stay in the browser on your device, so a dropped connection does not wipe a local game. If you have shared the scorecard so others can follow along, those live updates need a connection and catch up when you are back online. Bookmark the page if you want to reopen the same sheet later.

Is this Skyjo scorecard free?

Yes. ScorecardGO is free to use in the browser with no account required. Open the Skyjo scorecard and start tracking points right away. There is no signup wall and no paid plan required to keep score.

Can I share this Skyjo scorecard with a QR code?

Yes. Open Share on the scorecard and show the QR code so everyone playing can follow the Skyjo score on their own phone. You choose whether guests can enter scores or only watch, and you can change that during the game. People who cannot scan can type the six-character code at scorecardgo.com/join. Sharing is optional; if you never tap Share, the scorecard stays on your device.
